Day 1 – Windhoek, 1 night Olive Grove Guest House. Bed & Breakfast
On arrival at Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako International Airport you’ll be welcomed and assisted to collect your rental vehicle. Drive to Windhoek to check-in at your accommodation for the night – The Olive Grove Guest House. This afternoon, you’ll be taken on a city tour. Windhoek is a city of many contrasts. Modern skyscrapers blend with historic buildings dating from the turn of the century.
Day 2 – Sossusvlei, 1 night Kulala Desert Lodge. Dinner, Bed & Breakfast
Leaving Windhoek after breakfast in a southerly direction through the mountains of the Khomas Hochland, via the “Spreetshoogte Pass” into the low plains of the Namib Desert to Kulala Desert Lodge. Situated on over 21 000 hectares of private property and bordering the Namib Naukluft Park, the closest reserve to Sossusvlei itself. It offers magnificent views of the famous red dunes of Sossusvlei, as well as magnificent mountainous scenery and vast open plains.
Day 3 – Sossusvlei, 1 night Kulala Desert Lodge. Fully Inclusive
Enjoy an early morning guided 4x4 drive to the dunes, the journey takes you to the famous Sossusvlei, a clay pan surrounded by some of the highest sand dunes in the world, nature drives and walks on the private reserve. An early morning ballooning can be booked as an optional activity at extra cost.
Day 4, 5 – Swakopmund, 2 nights Hansa Hotel. Bed & Breakfast
The route takes you north via the Kuiseb Canyon to Swakopmund. Highlights en route include a drive to the “Moon Landscape” and the ancient desert plant, “Welwitschia mirabilis”. This quaint desert town, Swakopmund with its old-world charm and relaxed atmosphere hedged by desert and sea, is enhanced by lush green lawns and palm trees.
Next morning, drive to the Walvis Bay Yacht club for a boat cruise that promises exceptional viewing of the Walvis Bay international wetland bird life, Walvis Bay Lagoon, the lighthouse and seals at Pelican Point. Return to the yacht club for a short drive to seated lunch on the beach and thereafter a short town tour returns you to your hotel.
Day 6, 7 – Damaraland, 2 nights Doro Nawas Camp. Dinner, Bed & Breakfast
Departure from Swakopmund along the Atlantic Coast towards the North. Visit the lichen fields near Wlotzka’s Baken before continuing to Henties Bay, a small holiday resort. Onwards to the seal colony at Cape Cross. After visiting the seals, the journey continues via Ugabmund to the southern Skeleton Coast Park to inspect a shipwreck. You leave the Skeleton Coast Park in the early afternoon via Springbokwasser and can experience the harsh transition from the Namib Desert to the Damaraland highlands with its impressive landscape and ragged valleys.
Arrive at Doro Nawas Camp. Guests of this camp which is unobtrusively perched on a rocky outcrop, have a wonderful opportunity to contribute to a community-backed economic project while enjoying a luxury safari.
Visit Twyfelfontein, Burnt Mountain and Organ Pipes. Drive in Huab dry riverbed in search of game and especially desert elephants.
Day 8, 9 — Western Etosha, 2 nights Andersson’s Camp. Dinner, Bed & Breakfast
Continue to the western boundary of the Etosha National Park. Arrive at the Andersson’s Camp, an eco-sensitive camp providing an authentic, safe and down-to-earth experience.
Andersson´s Camp´s close proximity to Etosha is ideal for full-day self-drives into the Park which take in the plethora of game found here. Large herds of plains game concentrate around the waterholes in the dry season, whilst the summer months´ sporadic rainfall produces a profusion of new life - pronking baby springbok and comical young wildebeest herald the onset of summer.
Day 10, 11 — Eastern Etosha, 2 nights Mushara Lodge. Dinner, Bed & Breakfast
Take a full day game self-drive into Etosha National Park. Continue to Mushara Lodge, situated on the eastern side of Etosha, bordering Fisher´s Pan. Spend the next day in self-guided explorations or alternatively choose from the Lodge´s optional activities.
Day 12, 13 — Okonjima, 2 nights Okonjima Main Camp. Dinner, Bed & Breakfast – Fully Inclusive
Proceed to Okonjima, home of the AfriCat Foundation, lies in the Omboroko Mountains in the Otjiwarongo Region. Guests are given the opportunity to see a cheetah and leopard conservation programme at work and learn more about these animals during various activities included in your second day in Okonjima.
Day 14 — Windhoek, 1 night Olive Grove Guest House. Bed & Breakfast
Drive back to Windhoek for a relaxing last day in Africa or make this last minute shopping.
Day 15 — Departure
Drive back to the airport where you will drop your car hire and catch your flight back home.
