Day 1, 2 — Buenos Aires, 2 nights Alvear Palace Hotel. BB
You’ll be welcomed at Ezeiza International Airport and transferred to your hotel.
Next morning, leaving after breakfast you’ll enjoy a half day escorted tour of elegant Buenos Aires including the colourful neighbourhood of La Boca. You will see the beautiful parks and gardens of Palermo, the charming old city quarter of San Telmo, the bustling banking and business centre of town and the historic Government House, Congress Building and Recoleta Cemetery.
This evening you’ll have dinner at the Esquina Carlos Gardel Leading Tango saloon followed by a World-class Tango show.
Day 3 – Ushuaia, 1 night Los Cauquenes Resort & Spa. BB
A transfer to the airport will connect you with a scheduled flight to Tierra del Fuego. On arrival at Ushuaia airport, you’ll be transferred to Los Cauquenes, located on the shore of Beagle Channel and with a beautiful view of the snow-covered peaks of the imposing Andes Mountain Range.
Day 4 – Board M/V Antarctic Dream Cruise. HB
Take breakfast at your hotel and then enjoy a guided city tour of Ushuaia. Later, you’ll be transferred to the Hotel Fuegino for check-in and board the M/V Antarctic Dream.
Day 5, 6 – M/V Antarctic Dream, Drake Passage. FB
Wandering albatrosses, storm petrels and other seabirds will escort the vessel as you sail south across this famous passage named after Sir Francis Drake.
Day 7 – M/V Antarctic Dream, King George Island. FB
King George Island, the biggest island of the South Shetlands, will give you an early taste of the Antarctica. Weather permitting; you’ll disembark at Potter Bay and visit the Argentine scientific base, Jubany. In the afternoon you’ll disembark at Aitcho Island before proceeding to Neko Bay.
Day 8 – M/V Antarctic Dream, Antarctic Peninsula & Neko Bay. FB
Today you’ll make your first landing on the White Continent at Neko Bay and Port Lockroy before heading to Wiencke Island. See the magnificent scenery and a wide variety of the native wildlife including blue-eyed shags, gulls, cape petrels, skuas, snowy sheathbills, weddell crab-eaters, leopard seals, orcas and humpback and mink whales.
Day 9 – M/V Antarctic Dream, Pleneau - Petermann Island. FB
Sail south through the sheer cliffs of the Lemaire Channel to Petermann Island, known as one of the most beautiful places in the world. Weather permitting, disembark and see the most southern colony of Gentoo penguins, which nest near the landing spot. You’ll also see a colony of beautiful Adelei penguins, skuas and blue-eyed shags.
Day 10 – M/V Antarctic Dream, Paradise Bay - Cuverville Island. FB
Today, you’ll begin the return voyage. Weather permitting, you’ll disembark or use zodiacs in Paradise Bay. In the evening, you’ll visit Cuverville Island, beside its dramatic scenery it is home to one of the largest colony of Gentoo penguins and skuas.
Day 11 – M/V Antarctic Dream, Deception Island - Whaler’s Bay -Pendulum Cove. FB
Continue sailing to Deception Island, the largest active volcano in the area. Disembark in Whaler’s Bay and Pendulum Cove and enjoy a refreshing swim. In the afternoon, disembark at Hannah Point, one of the best places in the Antarctic to see fauna.
Days 12, 13 – M/V Antarctic Dream, Drake Passage. FB
Today, you’ll leave the Antarctic and head north back across the Drake Passage. Now is the chance to compare and revise notes and dwell on the adventures of the past week, to take in the final lectures and to enjoy the delicious gastronomy on board as you return to Ushuaia.
Day 14 – Buenos Aires, 1 night Alvear Palace Hotel. BB
Arriving in the morning in Ushuaia, you’ll have an early breakfast followed by transfer to the airport to connect with a scheduled flight back to Buenos Aires. On arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 15 – Departure
Take your transfer to the airport to meet homeward flight connections.
